Connect

The Bible refers to the church as a body where all the “members” need each other and all the members work together in unity (1 Corinthians 12). This is also the picture we see in passages like Acts 2:44-47 and 4:32-35 where Christians are sharing their lives together and meeting each others' needs. We think this should be the rule and not the exception for the Christian life. Because of this, being connected to a church and having meaningful relationships is a big deal to us.

The place where people are most connected at BC is through involvement in a Community Group (CG). CG’s are where we learn to love God and love others. In essence, it’s a group of people meeting for bible study, prayer, meals, movies, and helping one another in various ways. Our vision for each Community Group is for it to be a group of people sharing their lives together and living their shared life on mission for the glory of God.

You don’t have to be a church member or even a Christian to be part of a Community Group. You just have to be willing to get to know others and let them get to know you. Contact the church to find out where and when groups are meeting.

Another way for people to get connected is through church membership. Membership in the church isn’t simply a certificate or a spot on the attendance roster. Instead, it’s a commitment to loving a local group of saved sinners and (with God's help) becoming more like Jesus in the process. It’s pledging your time, your gifts, and your resources to being Jesus’ hands and feet as part of a local body of Christ.

Once a quarter, or as the need arises, we offer an event called “Getting to Know BC”, taught by our elders. This is a great way to learn about the church, meet our leaders, ask questions and find out if BC is the right place for you. In addition, this serves as the first step in the process of becoming a member (though attending the class doesn’t commit anyone to anything). After the event, those who feel God is leading them to become members continue by signing up for an interview with one of the elders. Professing Christians whose lives, though not perfect, give evidence of their faith in Christ and who are committed to the mission of the church are then recommended by the elders to the church family for membership.
