MISSIONAL LIFE

We are called to love others and work to bring shalom (peace, reconciliation, wholeness) to the world. In an effort to do so, we work with organizations and ministries locally and globally, to participate in God’s purpose and presence in the world. We belive this is a call to live our lives "missionally" for others, right in our neighborhoods, our families, and our wherever God takes us. Sometimes that's across the globe, but most times it's right where we are.

*New* Missional Life Gathering

We are all called to bring Good News wherever we go. This is Christ’s way. These gatherings broaden our understanding of God’s heart by sharing how we serve others around us. We meet weekly in the Window Room between services to hear stories from other Open Door people, pray, and share ideas. To get regular email updates about what will be happening in the current week’s meeting, ask to be added to the list. Contact: Rose | ext 1600

Missional Life Resources

During the sermon on January 15, 2017, Pastor Dave and Pastor Tom talked about where we are as a community and the direction we are moving. We are convinced that turning our faces outward is what we are called to do. As a first step, becoming aware of issues around us is important all the while listening to the Spirit who is ultimately our teacher and guide.

Below are a few resources Tom mentioned. And we also want to hear from you if you have suggestions on a quote or resource to share with the body. Enjoy a short description on why you recommend the book/movie/quote. Please join in the Facebook conversation at Open Door Facebook .

For the sake of others

What's the one thing you can do to see others more, and find ways to serve them? How is God calling you to live a life for the sake of others? Maybe it's volunteering in your kids' school, or helping out an elderly neighbor with their spring yardwork - NOT just to do good, but to let God change your heart.

Check out some of the organizations Open Door folks volunteer at below in our booklet!
