Derrick Leonard
US History, Spanish
Subjects: English with a Spanish endorsement—College of Notre Dame Belmont, CA
Derrick previously taught at Bridgemont Christian High School in Daly City for 14 years, serving as principal for the last six years. He has substitute taught in the Napa Valley, Fairfield-Suisun, Vallejo, and South San Francisco Unified School Districts.
He learned Spanish while working at a Salvation Army orphanage in Veracruz, Mexico and has traveled to 30 countries and all 50 states.
In his free time he likes spending time with his daughter Mia, riding his mountain bike, and going to Lake Tahoe.

Scott Cox
Science 7th & 8th, Pre Algebra II, Geometry, Bible 10
Scott is a native of the East Bay, having graduated from De Anza High School. He has worked as a Research Scientist, a lab technician, and in Management Technology at Clorox, Chevron, and Bank of America, respectively. He has been a substitute teacher as well and will bring a wealth of knowledge and insight to our students. He loves literature, history, art appreciation, photography, birding, botany, hiking and swimming.

Charlie Nason
Bible and Physical Education
Grade levels teaching experience: 7th-12th, College, Master’s
Charlie is a pastor and a teacher. He is currently teaching here, at the Cornerstone Bible College and Seminary, and at his local church. His heart is to equip Christians to better understand the gospel so they may share Christ in the community and reach the lost. He has authored a book in the field of apologetics titled, Gospel Powered: Anticipating God’s Power in Christ-Centered Apologetics published August 25, 2016.
He spends his free time with his wife Anna and their five children.

Sugar Roy
Junior High Spanish teacher/ High School Health
Mrs. Roy teaches Junior High Spanish and an online Health course for 10th graders. She studied Christian Theology, International Ministries, and Cultural Anthropology at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Ill. In Chicago, Sugar met her amazing husband of 13 years. Together they have three children ages 12,11, and 9. Sugar and her husband have a passion to share the Good News of Jesus to under resourced communities. They have started a church in Richmond, Ca., Living Hope Neighborhood Church, where they have served the community for 8 years. Her passions are her family, teaching small group Bible Study to women, drinking coffee, trying different foods, walks by the water, and learning about different cultures.

Ayesha Louis
Jr./High School English
Ayesha previously taught at Calvary Christian Academy and El Cerrito High School. She is currently working on a Master’s degree in education.
In her free time she loves spending time with her two sons, Kamron and Curtis, exploring and finding new adventures to embark upon.

Lynda Camacho
Band , Music
Mrs. Camacho has taught music for over 30 years, 23 of those here at ESCS. She conducts multiple programs each year at the elementary campus and band programs at the Jr/Sr High level. She has been the band director for nine years. She also teaches private piano lessons after school. Each year, she takes band and piano students to the ACSI music/band festivals. She loves teaching here at ESCS where she can help students to enrich their musical abilities and to encourage students to worship God through music. She loves the verse, Psalm 98:1, 4-6 which says, “O sing to the Lord a new song, for He has done wonderful things. Shout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth: Break forth and sing for joy and sing praises to the Lord with the lyre: with trumpets and the sound of the horn. Shout joyfully before the King, for He is the Lord.”

Kathy Ruiz
Jr/Sr High Secretary
Mrs. Ruiz was born and raised in Richmond. She moved to El Sobrante and now lives in Hercules. She has a son and a daughter who went through ESCS Kdg - 8th grade.
She loves to cook and garden.

Lucille Ojeda
Food Coordinator, Eagles' Nest Supervisor
Mrs. Ojeda was born and raised in Richmond and is a graduate of Richmond HS. She is married to Larry and they reside in San Pablo. Prior to working at ESCS she worked for Senator John Nejedly. She has worked for ESCS since 1979, beginning at the Elementary campus and then moving to the Jr/Sr High when the new campus opened. Her 3 children attended ESCS Kdg - 8th grade and she now has 4 grandsons, 3 of whom are attending ESCS.
She enjoys collecting new recipes and trying them out for her family, especially her grandsons.
Mrs. Ojeda's number one enjoyment is studying God's Word. She learns something new everyday and says the Word feeds her soul. She has been a leader for Bible Study Fellowship for 14 years and doesn't plan on retiring anytime soon.
She loves interacting with the students and says that is what keeps her coming to work everyday. The students love her Otis Spunkmeyer cookies at break!
