LUTHER ON LITURGY - SUNDAY MORNING ADULT BIBLE CLASS

DescriptionIn the spirit of recalling Martin Luther and the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, this study will focus on the liturgical writings of Martin Luther dating from 1523 and 1526. As context for that study, on December 3 we will talk about what “liturgy” is, and take a look at Divine Service, Setting One in the Lutheran Service Book. Then on December 10 we will consider Luther’s Latin Mass of 1523, and on December 17 his German Mass of 1526. Fellow Faith member Dr. Dan Zager will be leading this class.
Dan Zager, Ph.D. is the Associate Dean and Head Librarian of the Sibley Music Library, and Associate Professor of Musicology at the Eastman School of Music.

DescriptionGrief, particularly at the death of a loved one, can seem overwhelming. But encouragement and help can assist us in the journey from mourning to joy. Grief Share is a class/support group that is designed to help those experiencing grief in that journey. Faith will be hosting a new 12-week Grief Share class, led by Donna Kaser, beginning Sunday, Oct. 1 during the Education Hour.

DescriptionChristmas is the most celebrated holiday of the year for billions of people. But what is the purpose of Christmas? What makes Christmas so special? What is God’s purpose for Christmas? Utilizing video material from famous author and pastor Rick Warren, this class will help participants see three purposes for Christmas: a time to celebrate, a time for salvation, and a time for reconciliation. Lyle Heggemeier will lead this class which meets in the Auditoriium.

DescriptionCommunity Bible Study is hosting a 30-week in-depth Bible Study. Classes will meet on Wednesdays at Faith Lutheran Curch from 8:30-11:30am and at the Rochester Christian Reformed Church from 9:30-11:30am. If you are interested in attending or learning more, please contact Cheryl Erickson at cerick1234@gmail.com. Advance registration is required and the registration fee is $35/adult and $10/child. The class meeting at Faith is for women only. The class meeting at RCRC is for men, women, and children through age 5. This year the classes will study Daniel and Revelation.
