The leadership opportunities are listed in this section, along with a brief description of each area. Please read through the description and responsibilities of the ministry areas.

Children's Ministry:

The Children's Ministry works with children who attend the after-school program at the Wray Homes Community Center. Leaders in this area will organize and facilitate events for the children including a Fall Festival, Christmas Party, Valentines Day Party, etc. Apart from the bigger events, you will attend the after school program once a week to play with the kids- our hope is to build trustworthy relationships with them and show them how loved they are. The children's ministry leaders will meet with the children's ministry intern bi-weekly to brainstorm and plan events.

Communications & Media:

The Communication & Media Ministry is the voice for the Wesley Foundation! They will advertise in creative ways on social media for Wesley's weekly events. This will include brainstorming and executing giveaways, weekly videos, weekly announcements, etc. They will help create the graphics for other ministry area's events (small groups, fellowship events, women's and men's ministry events, etc.) They will also advertise for yearly events such as the Ice Cream Social & Fall Fest.

Connect Ministry:

The Connect leaders will work alongisde our Connect interns in getting students more involed. This entails printing and passing out flyers on campus on Wednesdays, welcoming people into Magnolia, and running the Connect table on Wednesday nights. The Connect ministry also hosts weekly connect nights where the goal is to connect leaders within Wesley with one another. This ministry connects our campus with the body of Wesley and helps those coming into our services feel at home.

Fellowship:

Fellowship leaders will meet and plan fun monthly events such as skate nights, open mic nights, camping trips, etc. They also will work in planning special yearly events, such as the Ice Cream Social and Fall Fest. Fellowship leaders will work together with the Fellowship intern to host Hospitality each week after our Wesley service. This includes creating a welcoming environment and preparing food to serve. The goal of the Fellowship Ministry is to help foster community amongst the students at Wesley as well as being an avenue through which we can reach out to the Georgia College campus.

Freshley:

Freshley aims to share the love and good news of Jesus with incoming freshmen by welcoming and helping them adjust to life as a college student. The main goal of Freshley leaders is to create relationships with freshmen! Your responsibilities include a weekly service on Monday nights, as well as a couple of freshman-focused fellowship events. Your opportunities as a leader will range from discipleship to teaching to prayer to event planning, based off of where you see yourself in the ministry.

Men's Ministry:

Men's ministry leaders will work with the Men's ministry intern(s) in planning fun events or bible studies to build community among the men of Wesley & also to reach the men on the Georgia College Campus. Men's ministry leaders will also work closely with the Fellowship interns & leaders to coordinate/plan events.

Prayer:

As a member of the Prayer ministry you will be helping to lay a foundation and create a culture of prayer for this ministry. Your primary responsibilities will be attending/leading 2 weekly prayer meetings: currently scheduled as Mondays at 10:00am & Tuesdays at 10:00am. You will also be available to pray over students during our second set of worship on Wednesday nights.

Production Team:

The Production Team at the Wesley Foundation works to plan and run every detail of our weekly Worship Service, from setting up chairs and lights, to making the coffee, to running the slides and dimming the lights. They are responsible for the set-up and tear down of the service. Production leaders will meet with the Production Intern(s) every Wednesday after setting up to brainstorm new ideas. This is an excellent area of service for anyone with a creative eye, detail-oriented and a heart for worship.

Women's Ministry:

The Women's Ministry aims to bring the Women of Wesley & Georgia College together in a loving community. Women's ministry leaders will work with the Women's Ministry Intern to plan events specifically for women & to create a culture for Women to foster relationships with one another as well as grow in their relationship with the Lord.

Worship:

Leaders on the Worship Team are devoted to leading the student body of Wesley in worship each week. Along with leading worship for the Wednesday night service and/or Freshley Monday night service, your weekly expectations include a regular rehersal, as well as set up and tear down for the services. Leaders with the ability/willingness to run sound are a vital part of the Worship Team. All applicants must try-out for the Worship Team.

Youth Ministry:

The Youth Ministry partners with Milledgeville First United Methodist's youth program. Leaders in this area will work directly with Tate and Ashley Welling in ministering to the middle and high schoolers in our community. Responsibilities include attending and assisting with weekly Sunday afternoon youth events from 4pm to 6pm, building relationships with local teeenagers, and working with Ashley to tailor a leadership role you desire. Those with a heart for youth and/or desire to enter into full-time ministry post college would be a perfect fit.

Select your top three choices from each of the drop down lists below (in the order of your preference).

VII. Leadership Covenant:

Below you will find a copy of the Leadership Covenant. Our Director, interns, and all student leaders are required to agree to following this covenant. Please read everything carefully. During your Leadership Interview, you will have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss concerns with the Director. You will be asked to sign a copy of the Covenant during your interview.

Georgia College Wesley Foundation Leadership Covenant:

Being a part of leadership in the Body of Christ is an honor and a privilege. Throughout Scripture God, through those in authority, have asked His leaders to follow certain conditions that will make them most effective in the opportunity He gives them. At Wesley, we are committed to living with moral and ethical values that are consistent with the Bible and the standards appropriate for the community we live in. We expect the students who lead at Wesley to live according to those values in response to God's call for His people to live righteously.

By accepting a leadership role at Wesley, I submit myself to the following covenant:

I will seek to know and serve the Lord as my first love.

I will be diligent in fulfilling all of the responsibilities entrusted to me. These include:

  • Regularly attend the Wesley Wednesday night service
  • Regularly attend Leadership Prayer before the weekly service
  • Being faithful to attend weekly discipleship meetings
  • Being actively involved in the ministry area in which I am given through prayer, time, and dedication
  • Attend Mandatory Leadership Training August 17th, 2019.
  • I will live a life of celibacy outside of the marriage covenant, and I will live above reproach and avoid even the appearance of immodesty in all my relationships. This includes purity in dating relationships and forbids sleeping over with the opposite sex.

I will live a life of sobriety. If under 21, I will adhere to the law and not drink at all. Realizing that my example could cause others to stumble, I will refrain from all drinking in public settings - bars, parties, etc. - in Milledgeville, and I will carefully consider the costs when choosing to partake of alcohol outside of Milledgeville.

I will be above reproach in the way that I both conduct myself and represent myself (and Wesley) through various social media outlets - Facebook, Snapchat, Text Messaging, Instagram, Twitter, etc.

I will zealously guard what I watch, read, and listen to so as to not grieve the Holy Spirit who makes me His temple.

With regard to all of the above, I will submit to those in authority over me (interns and directors) and make myself accountable to them, as unto the Lord, throughout the entirety of my time on Wesley Leadership.

I understand that I am making a commitment for the entire 2019-2020 school year.
