Here at Minster we believe that Jesus is the light of the world and that he is able to overcome all darkness, sadness and fear.

At this time of year, as many families celebrate Halloween, we especially want to remind our children who Jesus is and celebrate his victory over sin and death.

We aim to do this in a fun filled environment with games, food, stories and craft based on this theme. All children aged 5-11 are welcome to attend.

What a special day Easter Day is for us all! The day Jesus arose from the dead. Whatever the weather you will find a warm welcome in our very own Minster Pop-UpCafé, which will be open from on Easter Day afternoon (Sunday 27th March).

We are hoping that it will be a lovely relaxed afternoon where we can mingle with as many of the residents as possible.

An Afternoon Tea in the church on Tuesday July 7th at 3:00pm. The Tea will last for about an hour and there is no charge for the refreshments. There will be a short talk and a time of hymn singing, as is usual at our Community Lunch.

EASTER FUN

The Easter Fun event will start at 11.15am on Good Friday, straight after the meditation service. Easter Crafts and an Easter Egg Hunt followed by songs and a short talk to finish. Volunteers needed to help.

EASTER TEA

On Sunday afternoon (in place of the normal evening service) we will be celebrating by having a special Easter Tea here in the church at 5:00pm. The whole event will have an Easter theme. Please take some tickets from the board.

THOMAS COURT: EASTER SERVICE

At 8:00pm on Sunday we’re taking a service for the residents at Thomas Court, Hymns, readings and a gospel message. We need 10-15 volunteers to come to sing.

You are invited to join us at Messy (youth club) on Friday to jumpstart our weekend of prayer and fasting in aid of our persecuted brothers and sisters in North Korea. The evening starts at 7:00pm with the first part being informative and the second part both fun and informative!

If you are unable to join us in person, then please join us in prayer during the evening and over the weekend. OR – please sponsor us as a group.

£53 will provide shelter for Christians at risk

£92 will give 4 persecuted children an education

£180 can help train and support a North Korean church leader

and £369 can fund a week of Christian programs on the radio

Refashion, Recycle and Refresh your wardrobe!

Ladies –all ages –we’re having another fun fashion evening. Our charity fashion evening at 7:30pm on January 31st is a great opportunity to invite friends and neighbours to an informal, fun, evening event whilst at the same time supporting the work of two charities. The organisers would appreciate help with any of the following:

• Donations of unwanted ladies clothing and accessories. Bring them to church in a bag and leave them in the porch. Spare coat hangers too!

• Donations of cakes.

• Help to help serve refreshments

• Volunteer models for the cat walk (any age and size).

• Volunteers to help meet and greet.

• Volunteers with skills in styling clothes, hairdressing or make-up.

What is Advent?

Advent is what we call the season leading up to Christmas. It begins four Sundays before December 25th, sometimes in the last weekend of November, sometimes on the first Sunday in December. This year it begins on December 1st.

What does Advent mean?

During these days, it's as if we're re-enacting and remembering the hundreds and even thousands of years that God's people were anticipating and longing for the coming of God's salvation. That's what advent means - coming.

We’re going to sing carols in the lounge at Thomas Court (the new assisted living retirement complex on the corner of Cressy Rd and Marlborough Rd). This is a great opportunity to present the true message of Christmas to these folk who are new residents in our community.

We’ll be singing between 8:00 and 8:45pm, leaving Minster at 7:30pm.
