Intern/Mission Application

The following guidelines reflect the commitment of Latin American Ministry (LAM) to provide protective care to all children, youth, volunteers, and staff who participate in sponsored activities in or outside of the U.S.

All adult volunteers and staff of LAM MUST confess Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior, be a member in good standing and/or attendee of a bible believing church.

A Pastor's recommendation is required unless otherwise approved by LAM.

LAM reserves the right to refuse any application for any reason. Service with LAM is a priveledge and not a right.

Adults who have perpetrated and/or been convicted of either sexual or physical abuse of a child or children will not be permitted to serve as volunteers in any LAM-sponsored activity or program for children or youth.

Adult volunteers and staff are to observe the two adult rule. This requires that adults make every reasonable effort to avoid being in an isolated setting with children or youth without another Children/Youth Worker.

Volunteers or staff members are to immediately report to the Pastor any behavior that seems abusive or inappropriate or any incident reported by a child or adolescent.

Volunteers shall conduct themselves in a Christian manner that will leave no room for doubt as to their commitment of faith. If un-Christian like behavior develops during the trip you may be asked to leave.

Volunteers are unpaid and uncompensated except for positions which include housing and meals. Any donations made to LAM which are designated for you, will be used for your expenses. A 1099 or appropriate tax form will be issued to you by LAM, as required by the IRS.

As a 501 (c) 3 organization Latin American Ministry can accept donations on your behalf which can be used as a tax deduction by your donors if you so desire.

For Intern Program You Must Provide:

All expenses with respect to but not limited to:

Housing (100.00 weekly approx)

Meals (10-15 dollars approx daily)

Transportation in country (worst case 20.00 a week)

Airfare to destination

Any personal expenses or items desired

*Medical insurance is preferred however civil medical treatment is available for accidents or sickness but hospitalization is not.

Latin American Ministry nor Amistad Cristiana assumes no liability for the safety of or well being of any volunteer serving while in the U.S. or abroad. Each volunteer must view themselves as self-sponsored mission workers and take appropriate actions to protect themselves. LAM will make every effort to provide a safe and secure environment for all activities but it is clear that this is a mission trip to a foreign country where known drug trafficing and activity takes place. For your own security you should follow the instructions of the locals and do as they suggest.
