EDUCATION

Adult

The Adult Ministries Mission Statement and Trinity’s Core Values Statement provide the framework for our ministry.

The Mission of Adult Ministries at Trinity Presbyterian Church is to encourage adults in their faith journey by helping them to discover more of God’s love, as made known in Scripture and revealed by the Holy Spirit; grow in Christ toward maturity in faith and life; and discern, develop, and use the gifts that God has given each of us to serve God and the Church.

Small Groups, Pastoral Teaching, Seminars, and Classes

Discovering what God is revealing to us in Scripture by means of the Holy Spirit is a major focus at Trinity and is experienced in several ways:

  • Small Group Sermon-Based Bible Studies. Small groups meet almost every day of the week at Trinity or at homes to study the Scriptural passages used by the pastoral staff in their sermons. Some small groups meet during the day; others, in the evening. Currently, over 140 people meet in 14 small groups. The groups meet throughout the year for 6 to 10 weeks, with a short break in the summer between the Spring and Fall Small Group seasons.

  • Saturday Morning Men’s Breakfast Bible Study. This group meets year-round at 8:00 a.m. in the Fireside Room. The group uses the material from Small Group Sermon-Based Bible Studies during the small group seasons and other spiritually related material between seasons. For more information about the Saturday Morning Men’s Breakfast Bible Study, contact Vic Granholm at (650) 592-2151 or Mike Garoutte at (650) 592-6158.
  • Women’s Connection Bible Study. Open to women of all ages, this group meets at 9:30 a.m. Thursday mornings from September through May. The program includes a discussion-led Bible study followed by prayer time. The group supports several outreach programs at Trinity. Come at 9:15 a.m. for coffee and friendship. For more information, contact Veralyn Davids, 650-591-1519 or veralynd@comcast.net
  • Summer Seminars. During the summer, seminars are held in the Fireside Room after worship. The seminars offer stimulating and thought-provoking discussion on a variety of topics. Topics have included Scripture and homosexuality, and a Christian perspective of war and peace. Those who attend are challenged, enlightened, and enthused.
  • Prayer

Many of the congregation at Trinity have expressed a desire to know more about Jesus Christ, the work of the Holy Spirit, and prayer. Trinity offers several ways to participate in a prayer ministry:

  • Prayer Chain. The history of prayer at Trinity begins with this team of prayer warriors, who intercede daily for requests received via the church office, the chain leaders, and prayer cards in the pews. Contact the church office (650-593-8226) for information regarding the Prayer Chain.
  • Healing Prayer Team. This group meets at church every Friday morning to pray over and for people, specifically for healing. Contact the church office (650-593-8226) for information about the team, including contact information.
  • Sunday Prayer Stations. These stations are available once a month during the communion service for intercessory and healing prayer.
  • Day of Prayer. A once-a-year event, this special day provides an opportunity for people to meet in the sanctuary for a time of focused and guided prayer.
  • Library

Trinity maintains a library in Fellowship Hall. The library is open each day of the week and offers a warm, inviting environment. Books, videotapes, DVDs, and other materials are provided to all age groups and embrace a wide variety of topics, from self-help materials to Biblical studies to discourses on theological subjects. For information regarding the library, contact Bonnie McClure at 650-591-5057.

Trinity hosts a number of annual retreats, including the Women’s Retreat and the All Church Great Getaway. Nationally-known speakers and leaders lead the retreats. For information about these retreats, contact the church office at (650) 593-8226.
