Missions

Globally

What we do: Trinity enthusiastically supports nine global mission organizations that reach out in a variety of ways to those in need throughout the world. The outreach includes Christian education, church development, healthcare, disaster response, aviation and technology ,orphan care, microenterprise, and community transformation. We strive to engage our congregation through periodic international mission trips, mission related presentations, and special projects such as leading a Sunday School class about global missions or sewing baby blankets for the poor in Romania. We sponsor an alternative gift and fair trade handicraft market each December and send thousands of dollars to the missions represented.

Special Relationships: In recent years, Trinity has developed special relationships with World Vision in Romania, Village Enterprise in sub-Saharan Africa, and Alongside Ministries in Albania. Since 2000, several Trinity members have gone on mission trips to see the work done by these organizations. In fall of 2012, we are planning a mission trip to Romania in partnership with World Vision to see their progress and learn more about their current needs. To participate in this trip, contact Scott McMullin at mcmullin.scott@gmail.com. Trinity also has a special relationship with Amor Ministries in Mexico. Every spring break, Trinity sends a group of 50 or more high school youth and advisors to build houses for the poor in Mexico with Amor Ministries.

How to get involved: Pray for the mission organizations Trinity supports and their staff, their volunteers, those they help, and the communities in which they work. Some organizations have specific prayer requests that are sent by email on a regular basis. “Like” the organizations we support on facebook. “Follow” them on Twitter. Read their blogs. Subscribe to their online newsletters and prayer updates. Watch their online videos. Read “what’s happening” on their websites. Buy their merchandise. Suggestions of specific ways to get involved for each organization are provided below after the descriptions of each mission organization. Some suggestions provided are sending financial donations, sponsoring a child, volunteering locally or internationally, working as a college intern, becoming a paid professional employee, making non-cash donations, fundraising, and educating others about missions. Join Our Team: Our Global Missions team coordinates Trinity’s global missions activities and ensures our support achieves maximum impact. We work closely with liaisons of our missions to understand their emerging challenges, resource and prayer needs. The Global Missions team welcomes new members. Contact Kathy Kyne at kathyk20@earthlink.net if you are interested in joining the team.

Global Mission Organizations Trinity Supports:

World Vision works with children, families, and their communities worldwide to reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty and injustice. Child sponsorship is a key component of their ministry and many Trinity members sponsor children in Romania. Sponsorship provides education, economic and other kinds of support to the sponsored child’s community. Trinity also supports a program called “Keep Orphans Safe from the Streets”. Many children in Romania have been abandoned by their parents and grow up in institutions that care only about physical needs not their emotional or social development. The KOS project provides orphans nearing and post age 18, the life skills and emotional support needed so they can learn to live independently. Website: worldvision.org.

How to get involved: Involve the entire family by sponsoring a child in Romania or elsewhere and enjoy exchanging letters. Send a financial donation to support the “Keep Orphans Safe” program. Designate project #D50194147 and let World Vision know you are from Trinity Presbyterian Church in San Carlos. Are you a college student? World Vision offers internships in several cities in the USA in spring and summer.
