40 For Fruit

What is "40 For Fruit?"

  • 40 for Fruit is a 40 day spiritual fast toward becoming fruit bearing followers of Christ through the baptism of the Holy Spirit. The scripture says, “When you produce much fruit, you are my true disciples. This brings great glory to my Father” (John 15:8 NLT). The only way to become spiritually productive in life is through the baptism of the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5).
  • When Is It?

  • 40 for Fruit Launch Night December 31, 2011 at 6pm Special Powernight
  • The spiritual fast will begin at 5pm January 1 and end on February 11 at 5pm.
  • What is the purpose of "40 For Fruit?"

The purpose of this fast is 3 fold:

    1. To become productive in 4 areas of life Spiritual, Physical, Personal, Social

    2. To connect members with others in prayer and Bible Study

    3. To prepare the church for winning souls to Jesus Christ.

    Getting Started:

    1. Find a prayer partner or have household worship each day (We especially want you to pray with someone who is not a member of the church or who has left the church).

    2. Pray that God will show you whom you should be praying for. During the 40 days you will be praying for 5 people. Ask God for guidance as you select these individuals.

    3. Choose five people to pray for. Those on your prayer list may be family members, friends, or coworkers. They may be individuals who have either left the church, or were never members of the church (They should be individuals living in your area in order to invite them to church sometime during the next 40 days).

    4. Contact each of the 5 people who have selected. You may choose to contact these individuals in person, by phone, by email, or mail. Following is an example of what you should say to the friends you are contacting:

Beginning January 1 to February 11 my church is having a special emphasis on prayer, and is requesting that we choose five individuals to pray for during the next 40 days.

Since you are my friend (or whatever the relationship is) it seemed only natural that I would think of praying for you. I would be honored if you would let me know what your specific prayer requests are so that I can know how to pray for you for the next 40 days.

    5. Create a prayer card for each individual to keep you on track (See the “40 day Prayers and Devotions” book By Dennis Smith on page 5)

    6. Pray for these individuals everyday.

    7. Prayerfully consider what activities you can do to show them you care. The following list contains suggestions of things you can do for those on your prayer list to show that you care for them. Add to this list as the Lord leads.

  • Tell them what you appreciate about them.
  • Send them a piece of encouraging literature
  • Call and pray with them.
  • Invite them to dinner at your home or a restaurant.
  • Invite them to go out to lunch with you.
