About

Beliefs

At Lakeside Christian Church we affirm and confess the following to be essential beliefs:

- We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God in all matters of faith and conduct (Psalm 19:7-9; Matthew 5:18; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21).

- We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14, 1 Timothy 1:17).

- We believe in God the Father, an infinite, sovereign, personal Spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, justice, power, and love, who concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of humanity. He hears and answers prayer; and He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ (Deuteronomy 32:4; Nehemiah 9:6; Psalm 9:7-9; John 3:16, 4:24; 1 John 4:8; Romans 5:8; 11:33-36).

- We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory (Isaiah 53:5; Matthew 1:20-23; John 1:51; John 3:18; 1 Corinthians 15:3-8; Philippians 2:5-9; Colossians 1:15-19; Hebrews 1:1-4; 1 Peter 3:22).

- We believe in the Holy Spirit who came forth from the Father and Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and to regenerate, sanctify, and empower all who believe in Jesus Christ. We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Christ, and that He is an abiding helper, teacher and guide (John 14:16, 17, 26; 15:26, 27; John 16:9-14; Romans 8:9; 1 Corinthians 3:16; 6:19; Galatians 5:22-26).

- We believe that humanity was created in the image and likeness of God, but that through Adam’s sin humanity fell, inherited a sinful nature, and became alienated from God (Genesis 1:26, 27; Romans 3:22, 23; 5:12; Ephesians 2:1-3, 12). We believe that only those who repent and forsake sin and trust Jesus Christ as Savior are new creatures, delivered from condemnation, and receive eternal life (John 1:12; John 3:5-8, 16-21; Ephesians 1:7; 2:1-10; Titus 3:5-6; 1 Peter 1:18-19).

- We believe in the priesthood of all believers and that the universal Church, which is the body and bride of Christ, is a spiritual organism made up of all born-again people (1 Corinthians 12:12-14; 2 Corinthians 11:2; Ephesians 1:22, 23; 5:25-27). We believe that the establishment and continuance of local churches is clearly taught and defined in the New Testament Scriptures (Acts 14:27; 18:22; 20:17; 1 Timothy 3:1-3; Titus 1:5-11).

- We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost, the saved unto eternal life and the lost unto eternal damnation (Daniel 12:2; Matthew 25:34, 41, 46; John 3:17-18; Hebrews 9:27).

When Lakeside Christian Church members disagree or their interpretations differ on non-essential beliefs, we pray that the love of Christ guard our attitudes toward one another so that we exhibit a genuine concern for the building up of all God's people in an atmosphere of love. In essentials unity, in non-essentials liberty, and in all things charity.
