Purpose & Direction

The Purpose and Direction of Agape Christian Fellowship.

What is the purpose of having a Ministry and Church vision statement?

A vision statement will…

1.) keep a God given focus for God given results.

2.) help the church, as a whole, grow and fulfill its purpose of existing. The covenant members of the body need to have an understanding of their functions within the Kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ.

3.) help those who come in and are discipled to run with Vision and move along together as a Body seeing the Lord Jesus fulfill His Word in the lives of people and the community.

4.) allow us to see the Lord expand beyond this statement that will even revise in time what is written here, as we see Him grow in the people and build Covenant Relationships.

The primary Purpose of this Church/fellowship is …

1.) to reproduce a life (spiritual birth), then equip them to reproduce. This is accomplished by the impartation of Spirit-Life through mentoring and discipleship.

2 Tim 2:2

And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others. NIV

2.) to help others fulfill their calling in ministry, and have the potential released in them.

Eph. 4:1-4

I beg you-I, a prisoner here in jail for serving the Lord-to live and act in a way worthy of those who have been chosen for such wonderful blessings as these. Be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each others faults because of your love. Try always to be led along together by the Holy Spirit and so be at peace with one another. We are all parts of one body, we have the same Spirit, and we have all been called to the same glorious future.

2 Tim 1:6-7

This being so, I want to remind you to stir into flame the strength and boldness that is in you, that entered into you when I laid me hands upon your head and blessed you. For the Holy Spirit, God’s gift, does not want you to be afraid of people, but to be wise and strong, and to love them and enjoy being with them. TLB

3.) to equip the Saints for ministering and serving God in the community. This helps Christians attain and walk in what God has for them as individuals.

Eph 4:11-15

Some of us have been given special ability as apostles; to others he has given the gift of being able to preach well; some have special ability in winning people to Christ, helping them to trust Him as their Savior; still others have a gift for caring for God’s people as a shepherd does his sheep, leading and teaching them in the ways of God. Why is it that he gives us these special abilities to do certain things best? It is that God’s people will be equipped to do better work for him, building up the Church, the body of Christ, to a position of strength and maturity; until finally we all believe alike about our salvation and about our Savior, God’s Son, and all become full-grown in the Lord-yes, to the point of being filled full with Christ. Then we will no longer be like children, forever changing our minds about what we believe because someone has told us something different or has cleverly lied to us and made the lie sound like the truth. Instead, we will lovingly follow the truth at all times-speaking truly, dealing truly, living truly –and so become more and more in every way like Christ who is the Head of his body, the Church. Under his direction, the whole body is fitted together perfectly, and each part in its own special way helps the other parts, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love. TLB

4.) to see God glorified through changed lives. We recognize His power to transform a life.

Isa 61:3

To console those who mourn in Zion, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.

NKJV

The primary Focus of this Church/fellowship is for people to come into the Presence of the Lord by...

1.) the church being a lighthouse/refuge in the community with all ministry motivated by a heart of compassion.

1 Peter 3:8-9

Finally, all of you be of one mind, having compassion for one another; love as brothers, be tenderhearted, be courteous; not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing. NKJV

Jude 21-22

Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. And on some have compassion, making a distinction;

NKJV

Rom 15:7

Therefore receive one another, just as Christ also received us, to the glory of God.

2.) binding the broken hearted and setting the captives free… thus the environment of the church should reflect this, to experience the fullness of a relationship with Christ.

Rom 12:10-15

Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another; not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer; distributing to the needs of the saints, given to hospitality. Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep. NKJV

3.) reproducing Life through relationships with Christ and the body. No one should be alone, and the believers are there to bear one another's burdens. The result is God’s strength being manifested in the church and community.

Rom 15:1

We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves;

Gal 6:2

Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.

Why Come to Church?

We, as part of the body of Christ, come to present ourselves before the Lord and worship Him and thus bringing ourselves into the realm of Accountability, Submission, Faithfulness, and Commitment. These are the things that are produced in us through this act of gathering.

The primary Direction of this Church/fellowship as directed by the Lord Jesus Christ, through the voice of the Holy Spirit is…

1.) to bring the reality of God to the people. This reality of God will help people understand that God is building a people, not a building, thus making Himself touchable.

1 Peter 2:4-5

Come to Christ, who is the living Foundation of Rock upon which God builds; though men have spurned him, he is very precious to God who has chosen him above all others. And now you have become living building-stones for God’s use in building his house. What’s more, you are his holy priests; so come to him-(you who are accepted to him because of Jesus Christ)-and offer to God those things that please him. TLB

Heb 4:13-16

He knows about everyone, everywhere. Everything about us is bare and wide open to the all-seeing eyes of our living God; nothing can be hidden from him to whom we must explain all that we have done. But Jesus the Son of God is our great High Priest who has gone to heaven itself to help us; therefore let us never stop trusting him. This High Priest of our understands our weaknesses since he had the same temptations we de, though he never once gave way to them and sinned. So let us come boldly to the very throne of God and stay there to receive his mercy and to find grace to help us in our times of need. TLB

2.) to lead us into the Presence of the Lord. It is not about the programs that are offered, but the Presence of the Lord that must fill all in all with a continuation of Acts with signs following.

Ex 33:13-17

Please, if this is really so, guide me clearly along the way you want me to travel so that I will understand you and walk acceptably before you. For don’t forget that this nation is your people. And the Lord replied, “I myself will go with you and give you success.” For Moses had said, “If you aren’t going with us, don’t let us move a step from this place. It you don’t go with us, who will ever know that I and my people have found favor with you, and that we are different from any other people upon the face of the earth?” And the Lord had replied to Moses, “Yes, I will do what you have asked, for you have certainly found favor with me, and you are my friend.” TLB

Ex 40:34-38

Then the cloud covered the Tabernacle and the glory of the Lord filled it. Moses was not able to entered because the cloud was standing there, and the glory of the lord filled the Tabernacle. Whenever the cloud lifted and moved, the people of Israel journeyed onward, following it. But if the cloud stayed, they stayed until it moved. The cloud rested upon the Tabernacle during the daytime, and at night there was fire in the cloud so that all the people of Israel could see it. This continued throughout all their journeys. TLB

3.) to find where God is moving, and move with Him. This includes hearing His Voice to find those that are in the valley of decision, and operate accordingly to His Voice. The result will be an importance placed on Covenant amongst ourselves. This type of Covenant will bring restoration and the reality of God.

Phil 2:3-4

Don’t be selfish; don’t live to make a good impression on others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourself. Don’t just think about your own affairs, but be interested in others too, and in what they are doing.

1Thes 5:11-23

So encourage each other to build each other up, just as you are already doing. Dear brothers, honor the officers of your church who work among you and warn you against all that is wrong. Think highly of them and give them your wholehearted love because they are straining to help you. And remember, no quarreling among yourselves. Dear brothers, warn those who are lazy, comfort those who are frightened, take tender care of those who are weak, and be patient with everyone. See that no one pays back evil for evil, but always try to do good to each other and toe everyone else. Always be joyful. Always keep on praying. No matter what happens, always be thankful, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus. Do not smother the Holy Spirit. Do not scoff at those who prophesy, but test everything that is said to be true, and if it is, then accept it. Keep away from every king of evil. May the God of peace himself make you entirely pure and devoted to God; and nay your spirit and soul and body be kept strong and blameless until that day when our Lord Jesus Christ comes back again. TLB

4.) to break down the walls of religion and other bondages, because, we are a church reaching the community through relationships.

Eph 2:4-6

But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions-it is by grace you have been saved. And God raises us up with Christ and seated us with hin in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, NIV

1Peter 4:7-11

The end of the world is coming soon. Therefore be earnest, thoughtful men of prayer. Most important of all, continue to show deep love for each other, for love makes up for many of our faults. Cheerfully share your home with those who need a meal or a place to stay for the night. God had given each of you some special abilities; be sure to use them to help each other, passing on to others God’s many kinds of blessings. Are you called to preach? Then preach as though God himself were speaking through you. Are you called to help others? Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies so that God will be glorified through Jesus Christ-to him be the glory and power forever and ever. Amen TLB.

2Cor 5:18-19

All these new things are from God who brought us back to himself through what Christ Jesus did. And God has given us the privilege of urging everyone to come into his favor and be reconciled to him. For God was in Christ, restoring the world to himself, no longer counting men’s sins against them but blotting them out. This is the wonderful message he has given us to tell others. TLB
