About Us

The Church of God is a vibrant, family focused church located in southern Maryland. The Church of God teaches according to the Holy Bible "that we should live soberly, righteously and godly in this present world" (Titus 2:11). The Church of God is located southeast of Washington, D.C. in Lothian, Maryland. Please join us during our services, or hear Elder Derek Hawkins, Sr. when he travels near you. The Church of God was founded by the late Elder Raymond C. Wills in the late 1930's after he accepted Jesus Christ through the ministry of Elder Solomon Lightfoot Michaux, a renowned evangelist. Elder Wills was called to rest in 2001. The church was pastored by Bishop George W. Hawkins, Sr. from 1994 to 2008. Bishop Hawkins was called to rest in 2008. The church is now pastored by Elder Derek Hawkins, Sr.
