Children, Youth, Adults

High School

Growing young Christian leaders who: passionately live out their faith, lovingly share the Good-news, and selflessly make a significant difference in the lives of others.

Teens are active members of the church community, developing a stronger faith by interacting with others and participating in the church in various roles. While exploring the Bible and worshiping together are part of our time together, our ministries also strive to walk beside our youth in an authentic way that confronts the challenges they face on a daily basis. We seek to live, learn, and lead together…being disciples in the real world.

Stay Connected! The high school ministries each have their own opportunities to develop the faith of our youth. Bible study, worship participation, volunteer programs, large and small group discussion, and fellowship enrich the lives of teens by forming lasting friendships.

High School Ministries - “Ignition”

High School students and mentors have a wonderful opportunity to gather together with each other experiencing life in a Christian community while being challenged and nurtured to grow in their faith.

Ignition – Students meet weekly on Sunday nights for fellowship, food, prayer, open discussion, service, occasional worship and fun. We take a look at different social issues that relate to the lives of high school students and relate them back to the bible.

  • Events – There are several different events throughout the year that students are invited to participate in from cookouts and bon fires, to dodgeball and movie nights. Students are also invited to participate in our annual Ski Trip to Chestnut Mt. or to experience what it’s like to be Homeless while raising money and awareness for this issue.
  • Serving – mission events at Our Saviour’s such as Celebration Clinic, PADS, Feed My Starving Children, Mega Garage Sale, Church School Shepherding, Vacation Bible School, CropWalk, and others. Students are also encouraged to volunteer in worship as a greeter, communion server, usher or with the tech team.
  • Mission Trips - “God’s Work, Our Hands” - We offer serveral mission trips for high school students including WorkCamp where we travel to a town that needs some tender loving care, Haiti during spring break where we continue to partner with the people of Mariani, and ELCA’s National Youth Gathering.
  • Music & Arts – Eagle’s Wings Choir, Percussion Ensemble, Hearts in Puppetry Puppet Ministry, and other voice and instrumentalist ensembles. Through Eagle’s Wings students also have the opportunity to attend a three day Christian Music Festival called Sounds Like Love. Together Eagle’s Wings and Hearts in Puppetry travel on a Ministry Tour at the beginning of every summer to spread God’s Love and Good-news through music. Past destinations have included, New York, California, Texas, Canada, Colorado, Florida and other states as well as Slovakia!
  • Leadership Opportunities - We have a group of 8-12 active high school students, called the Leadership Team, who meet weekly to collaborate in planning and leading Ignition. As a leader in the community, you also have the opportunity to go to a special camp called Leadership Lab every summer.
  • Fundraising – Our Saviour’s has four major fundraisers throughout the year. The Youth Auction, being the largest fundraiser is a dinner and auction that contains performances by Eagle’s Wings and Hearts in Puppetry. Money is allocated by the leadership team to support different areas of youth activities including a tithe to the church. The Shrove Tuesday Pancake Dinner is the newest fundraiser promoting community while supporting youth ministries. Buds, Suds, and Grub, is a large plant sale and car wash that supports the Ministry Tour and money from Ribfest Parking goes to support the youth mission trips.
