Ruth Nelson

My husband, Scott, and I joined Our Saviour’s in 2002 when we first became empty nesters. Neither of us are cradle Lutherans, but we were drawn to Our Saviour’s by the beauty of the liturgy, the sense of mission and the warm welcome we received at the 5 o’clock service. Our new member class encourage us to get involved so I became a lector and communion server. A few years after joining I headed up the Garden/Columbarium Committee as we expanded the garden at Celebration! and built the Memorial Wall. In 2013 I was privileged to be named Chair of the Sr. Pastor Call Committee. I am now a member of the Church Council and chair of the Human Resource Committee. Since traveling to the Holy Land two years ago I have been active in Bright Stars of Bethlehem. Scott and I have one daughter, Amy, who is married to James Claud. We have three beautiful granddaughters, Anne, 8, and Ellen,5, who both attend Grace Lutheran School in River Forest. Our newest granddaughter, Grace, just celebrated her first birthday.
