SERMONS
Second Peter is written to a people heavily influenced by Epicureanism, the belief that we are here by chance, that God is not active in the world, that freedom is king and pleasure is all that can be hoped for. Many people today, inside and outside the church, are influenced by these same ideas. Sadly, such a bleak view of life often leads to soul-crushing spiritual enslavements. The good news of Second Peter is that we can be broken free, truly free, through the “divine power” available to us in Jesus Christ. Or, in Peter’s words, “through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence.” Join us each week as we pursue this “divine power” and, more importantly, the one who offers it.
