2015 Hume Lake Youth Retreat
August 9-15
Hume Lake Registration is now open! All middle and high schoolers are welcome, but spots are limited. If you are interested in attending, pick up a registration form to fill out from the back table (or download the middle school one here and high school one here). Please turn in your registration and $100 deposit to John Jensen in order to save your spot.
What is the Youth Ministry?
The youth group ministry is a place for kids, from 6th grade through seniors in high school, to pursue Christ passionately through bible study and discipleship and demonstrate their love of Christ through fellowship with one another and through service. We aim to walk alongside the youth, fostering an atmosphere for discovery and realization of the truth of the Gospel in their everyday lives.
We emphasize three primary goals in youth group:
Discipleship
We want the kids to learn what it means to pursue God with unrelenting devotion by instilling foundational Christian values through studying the bible more deeply, interacting with older more mature Christians, and learning how to live a life that glorifies God (Romans 12:1-2). From this groundwork we will foster the development of Christian leadership in the youth. As part of that process, we will teach and emphasize the importance of developing a prayerful and worshipful heart in the journey that is discipleship.
Fellowship
God has called us into fellowship with one another (Romans 12:10) and called us to love our Christian brothers and sisters. We hope to grow and maintain a safe environment where youth can learn to grow in faith together while building genuine friendships through various fun and engaging activities and events. Additionally, we hope to make the youth active participators in all-church events including celebrations, service projects, etc.
Outreach & Service
Community engagement and involvement is important. In response to Christ’s example as servant to the needy and outcast, our youth group will focus on engaging with communities beyond just our own through service projects and outreach events. We will develop the tools needed for sharing the gospel and grow each child’s faith. We hope to equip the kids so that they feel motivated and confident in inviting non-Christian friends to partake in this community as well.
