Does church membership matter?

Open Online Membership Form and Online Pastoral Care Group (OPCG) form

Although the New Testament says little explicitly about "joining a church" in the modern sense of the idea, the New Testament speaks boldly about loving relationships and the highest standards of accountability in the Body of Christ. This was realized in the every day living of life in the major cities to the small villages of the Greco-Roman world.

Becoming a NLR or Online PCG Community Member of Christ Church means you fully accept the sacred and wonderful responsibility of loving God, loving one another and incarnating the Gospel of Jesus as the Body of Christ. This includes the acceptance and cohesive embracing of our doctrinal statement as well as the active involvement in the fulfilling of our purposes at Christ Church. Therefore, we acknowledge that Christ Church is not for everyone.

Why Membership Matters at Christ Church

We are honored that God has called you to covenant with us in living out the teachings and character of Christ through His Body at Christ Church. Our faith is focused on what is unseen and our debt of love is unending. We will always need each other. It takes nothing short of faith, sacrifice, the attraction of the Fruit of the Spirit, and the powerful work of the Holy Spirit to ascribe greatness to the love and glory to God, bring people into His kingdom through the Gospel of Jesus Christ our Lord, bring His followers to maturity in Christ by the Leading of the Holy Spirit, and start churches among the unreached people of the world. And then, to work diligently to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace and pursue holiness in the love of God. See Matthew 28:18- 20; John 13- 17; Romans 12; Ephesians 4. We have a wonderful calling!

The author of the Letter to the Hebrews tells us, "Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching" (10:19-25).

Guiding the Body of Christ in using their gifts to bring each other to spiritual maturity in Christ

Fellowship in the Church is the open sharing of common corporate gifts in each believer in a common calling for the building up of the Body of Christ so that each member reflects in maturity a unified faith and the character of Jesus Christ. See Romans 12; Ephesians 4; Hebrews 10-13; 1 Peter 1:16.
