Trans* Spiritual Connection

Trans* Spiritual Connection is one of our newer ministries that has already firmly established itself. Open to all members of the transgender and ally communities, "T*SC celebrates each individual's unique gender expression/identity in a safe, respectful and supportive environment where we can promote spiritual growth, social interaction, community advocacy and educational support." Led by Beth Kind, T*SC meets on the 3rd Tuesday of the month in the 1st-floor Community Room.

For more information, please contact Beth Kind.

HEARTS FOR JUSTICE!

Justice Brunch: Connect, Listen, Learn and Act!

One Saturday morning each month brings together friends with a heart for Justice to discuss a different controversial issue each month, plan actions that bring change in our community, and share a potluck brunch. Depending on group determination, this group may meet in homes or at church campus. Optional activities in the community will be encouraged. All congregants are asked to register to help with planning the first meeting. Non-congregants and those with diverse views on issues are exceptionally welcome. Jude Litzenberger will facilitate the initial meeting with rotating leadership beyond that date. For more information or for registration, please contact Rev. Caedmon.

Discover Your Divinity Yoga Ministry

Currently on hiatus until August

We are so excited tabout our Discover Your Divinity Yoga Ministry! Our Mission is to bring people closer to God and to one another. We practice Kundalini Yoga right in our very own sanctuary! This ancient science of the mind and body as taught by Yogi Bhajan is known as the Yoga of Awareness. It is designed to give you an experience of your highest consciousness, to elevate the spirit, which has no boundaries and no discrimination. Therefore it is for everyone, universal and nondenominational. If you can breathe and lean in the right direction, you will benefit! It is practical yet also powerful, working quickly to give you grace, balance, and most of all, the ability to remain calm, centered, and clear through life's challenges. Kundalini Yoga is considered the most comprehensive of yoga traditions, combining meditation, mantra, physical exercises, and breathing techniques. "Kundalini" literally means "the curl of the lock of hair of the beloved." This poetic metaphor alludes to the flow of energy and consciousness that exists within each of us and enables us to merge with the universal self. Join us Thursday evenings at 7 PM in the Sanctuary resuming in August, and discover your own unique and perfectly divine self! Look forward to seeing you there!

Hospitality Team - Sundays and Special Events

Lyn Malone: 619-521-2222 x23 lyn@themetchurch.org.

Many of you have brought such wonderful food for use during the Hospitality hours on Sunday. The Hospitality Team is grateful for all of your giving. We have received the cutest cupcakes, yummy coffee cake, great and wonderful cookies, scrumptious cakes and even wonderful punch additions. If you bring something, just be sure it is marked “for hospitality;” better yet, speak with Lyn Malone, or the Hospitality person on Sunday. It is truly appreciated and you are, too.

Currently members of the Team are working two services per month, and it would be wonderful to have additional people so we could perhaps do one service per month. If you are interested in joining this team, please contact Lyn Malone on any Sunday. Thank you.

WOW ... Women of Worth

W.O.W. (Women of Worth) is our new Women's Fellowship group. Responses from the recent Women's Retreat told us women want a fellowship and way of forming relationships with other women of MCCSD. For questions about this ministry, contact Lyn Malone, 619-521-2222 ext. 23 or by email.

Centering Prayer

Centering prayer renews the tradition of contemplative prayer with a certain order and method. Contemplative prayer is a process of changing on the inside, and it's a conversation initiated by God. It's a type of prayer that becomes more meaningful with practice. Over time, we learn to perceive, relate and respond with increasing sensitivity to God's presence. Please join us for an open heart and an open mind.

Centering Prayer is open to people of all levels of experience. We use a simple format of a 20-minute silent meditation with some structure. Get to know the church staff and others at Centering Prayer. We'd love for you to join us Mondays in the sanctuary at 1 p.m. sharp. For more information, please contact Tom Rummel.

Care Team

Our Care Team sends cards, makes phone calls, does hospital and home visitations for those who are ill or in need of a personal touch.

One ministry of our Care Team is to provide communion to those who are homebound or hospitalized. If you, or a loved one in the area are in the hospital, homebound or otherwise unable to attend church, a member of the Care Team would be happy to come and serve communion and offer prayer. Please email Lyn Malone or call her at the church office (619-521-2222 x23), or write all information on the back of a Keeping in Touch Card, or speak personally with Lyn.

Audio / Multimedia Ministries

If you can press an "enter" button on a computer or turn a volume button "up" or "down," you are qualified to help with Sound/Multimedia. Serve on a rotation schedule to work the sound board and equipment or run the PowerPoint presentation for services. No previous experience needed. Good sound and exciting multimedia all enhance our worship experience. We will show you everything you need to know for rewarding ministry. Please contact Lee Bowman.

Fundraising Team

The FAB Team is a group of enthusiastic, energetic people who strive to create fun events that bring people closer to God and one another. FAB is an abbreviation for "'Fellowship and Abundance." Through social events, such as dinners, shows and gatherings we create an opportunity for fellowship and generosity of giving to our church. Contact Ron Sperry for more information. New team members or explorers are always welcome!

Landscaping Ministry

Lee Bowman lee@themetchurch.org

Our church grounds are looking really pleasant and inviting thanks to the efforts of Darrell Little, Bob Glenn-Ristow and others. They keep the lawn mowed, the sprinkler system efficient and add little enhancements all the time. Bob affectionately calls it "playing in the dirt. But it is ministry! Our neighbors have told us that our care of the grounds has encouraged them to improve theirs. Yep, there goes the neighborhood! If you would like to help, click on the link above.

Feed My Sheep - Food Pantry

Contact Johnny Glenn at jhneegee@yahoo.com.

Our Food Pantry is in need of replenishing. Most needed are snack, pop-top or lunch bag type items as many of our requests come from people without cooking facilities: fruit and pudding cups; packets of cheese or peanut butter crackers; soup cups; cereal bars; pop-top vegetables; small packs of nuts or trail mix; lunch size bags of chips or snacks; little boxed juices. Items may be brought to church on Sunday or dropped off at the Church Office Monday - Thursday, 9 AM - 5 PM. Thank you for being a blessing to those in need.

Our Food Pantry is available to congregants and anyone in need. Just ask to be directed to a team or staff member or call the church office.

Celebration Choir & Music Ministry

With the new year, Choir Rehearsal is now on Tuesday evenings, 7 - 9 PM in our Sanctuary. Rev. Dan Koeshall encourages and invites everyone with a voice to come and share it in ministry as part of the Celebration Choir.

Usher Ministry Team - Sundays and Special Events

Why not start the year out in Ministry… We could use your smiling face and sparkling personality to greet all people who come thru our doors on Sunday mornings. Ushers are the first ones who greet and welcome our guests, help direct those that are new or visiting, receive the offering and assist with communion. We ask for 1 Sunday a month (or more if you would like) . This is a great Ministry for persons who are shy, outgoing, just starting ministry or looking for someplace to be a part of The Met®.. Please speak with any usher or Lyn Malone.

Altar Team - Sanctuary Preparation

Lyn Malone lyn@themetchurch.org

The Altar Ministry is seeking volunteer ministers to set up or take down the altar for either Sunday worship once a month.

The Altar Team is in need of five more people to serve in this ministry, helping to prepare the altar, participating in worship and assisting with communion. Training is available and ongoing and requires only one service, once a month. How easy! The commitment is small, the rewards great.
